Many individuals are experiencing social and emotional stressors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many are grieving loved ones who have passed away. Some coronavirus survivors have been left with health problems, and many others have lost jobs and businesses.
Even those who have not experienced severe loss have endured months of disrupted schedules, canceled celebrations and daily challenges. As a result, many are feeling lonely, frustrated and vulnerable, physically, emotionally and financially.
In response to a rise in social and emotional deficits, Philadelphia Academy Charter School is implementing a schoolwide curriculum for students to acquire and apply knowledge, learn skills and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. The curriculum is broken down into three stages:
K-1 Ready to Learn
2-3 Ready for Success
4-12 Student Success Skills
Our goal is to provide students across K-12 grade the tools and strategies to thrive personally and academically, develop and maintain positive relationships, become lifelong learners, and productive contributors to our community.
